Twin Valley Homes is a housing association created from the transfer of around 10000 homes from Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council in March 2001. Herbert T Forrest in consortium with another local contractor, Durose and Gourlay and operating under the name of FDG Projects was awarded a 5 year partnership to undertake planned maintenance works in three of the associations four local areas with a value of £8–10 million per annum.
The works being carried out comprise a large part of Twin valleys £105 million promise to improve the whole of their housing stock and includes kitchen refurbishment, central-heating installations, installation of double-glazed PVCu windows, high-performance door-sets, external repairs and decoration.
The partnership is now in its third year and operating very successfully, achieving very high levels of customer satisfaction and providing a cost effective solution for Twin Valley Homes’ procurement programme. Independent auditors, KPMG, recently described the partnership as “one of the most successful and effective partnering programmes they had seen in operation”.
