Defects
It is a company objective to hand over projects to our clients free of defects and to this end we have developed stringent quality management procedures to attain the best QPI’s possible.
We recognised that within the industry too many projects were handed over with too many defects and not on time. We also felt that there was a weakness in site management because projects were often offered to clients before the work was fully complete and “snagged”. This had a knock on effect for the client in that his Clerk of Works was spending too much time inspecting works offered and writing long defects lists. However, we felt that the employment of finishing foremen did not achieve results as he would have a working relationship with the Site Manager and would not operate with the desired level of neutrality. Therefore, we developed a new post of “Quality Control Inspector”, abbreviated to QCI. The QCI was to be a person employed by the company, who was office based and responsible for quality on a number of sites. He would be answerable to the directors and would give an independent view on quality and progress and would ensure that the completed product, handed over to the client, was actually “complete” and free of snags.
